The problem
Why it matters
A joint hollowed out by ten millimetres is not just a cosmetic flaw: it is a point of entry for water. On an exposed facade, a few winters are enough for the brick to start splitting.

Cleaning
Low pressure, micro-abrasive or chemical cleaning, depending on the surface and how dirty it is.
Repairs
Repointing, crack repair, renewal of the window sills.
Finish

Frequently asked questions
Your questions
Do you need a permit?
A simple clean, no. A change of colour or material, often yes, especially in a protected area. We check with the municipality.
Can a facade be renovated in winter?
Not below 5 °C and not with frost forecast. Mortars and renders do not set properly.
How long between two facade renovations?
15 to 20 years for render, longer for careful repointing on good-quality brick.
Do you do sandblasting?
Rarely, and never dry on soft brick: it strips the surface and leaves it porous for good. We prefer gentle abrasive cleaning or a chemical clean.
And the saltpetre marks?
They point to rising damp. We treat the cause before the facade, otherwise the marks are back within a few months.
Is the scaffolding included?
It is priced separately, as a visible line on the quote. Nothing is hidden inside a vague lump sum.
