Your questions
How often does it need doing?
Once a year, twice if there are trees within ten metres. Always after the leaves have fallen.
Do leaf guards work?
It keeps the big stuff out. Conifer needles and silt still get through — it spaces out the maintenance, it does not remove it.
Do you repair leaks while you are there?
A leaking joint, yes, if it is a matter of redoing mastic or a solder run. Replacing a section is quoted separately.
Do you need to be there?
No. Access around the house and to water is enough.
Do you work from a ladder or a platform lift?
A ladder with a stabiliser in most cases. A cherry picker if the height or the access requires it, and that is stated in the quote.
What do you do with the waste?
They leave with us. Nothing gets pushed down the roof outlet or left in the garden.
