Paver cleaning with sealing
Terraces and driveways in clay pavers stripped back thoroughly, joints redone where needed, then a water-repellent treatment that keeps the colour and blocks moss.

BeforeAfter
The problem
Why it matters
A porous clay paver drinks up water, greens over on the shaded side and fills with moss in the joints. In winter the trapped water freezes and blows the surface apart.

How it runs
How we go about it
Every step exists for a reason. The ones that get skipped are exactly the ones that bring the problem back.
Weed removal
Mechanical removal of weeds and roots from the joints.
Deep stripping
Rotary surface cleaner: no streaks, no zebra stripes.
Repointing
Polymeric sand or mortar depending on how it was laid, where the joints have gone.
Drying
24 to 48 hours. We never treat a damp surface.
Water-repellent treatment
Colourless impregnation or wet-look, as you prefer.

Frequently asked questions
Your questions
Does the stripping take the sand out of the joints?
Partly, yes, and that is unavoidable. Which is why repointing is part of the job and not a surprise extra.
Does the water-repellent treatment darken the colour?
The colourless one no, the wet look yes, clearly. We test on one area before treating the whole roof.
How long before you can walk on it again?
A few hours before walking on it, 48 h before putting heavy furniture back or parking a car.
Can a concrete terrace be treated?
Yes, the method is the same. The products change according to the porosity.
Do grease stains come out?
The recent ones, yes. An old ingrained stain can leave a shadow: we say so before the job, not after.
Does it have to be redone every year?
No. With a water-repellent, a rinse with clean water once a year is enough for 5 to 8 years.
